Good morning. I just wanted to know whether this specific model has an additional memory slot as stated in the specifications, or whether that is an error. In all the other T490 models I’ve seen on your website, you explicitly state either that it does not have an additional slot, or that it “depends on the configuration”. Thank you

In the Lenovo ThinkPad T490, the possibility of upgrading the RAM depends on the exact configuration of each unit, because Lenovo manufactured this model in two variants: Configuration A (very common): 8 GB soldered + 1 SODIMM slot for expansion. Upgradeable up to 40 GB (8 soldered + 32 GB in the slot). Configuration B (less common): All RAM soldered. Not upgradeable. That is why on our website it sometimes says “depends on the configuration”. In the specific case of the unit you are looking at right now (T490 i7 8565U, 16GB, 512GB SSD, FHD, A+), it does indeed have an additional slot, since this specific configuration is one of those that include 8 GB soldered + 8 GB in SODIMM, allowing for expansion. If you want us to manually check the unit that would be sent in your order, you only need to indicate it in the order notes with something like: “Confirm if the ram is soldered before shipping and let me know” and we will physically check it before sending it.
